Need help - 95 Civic Coupe
Hey everyone i just bought my first honda its a 1995 eg coupe my friends say its the easiest and cheapest to modify i was wondering what are somethings to do to it its a stock single can non vtech in trying to go function over form thank appreciate the help everyone
If you want function, keep it the way it is. This is such a vague request but I'll bite. What are you goals for it? Want to go fast? Racer status? Tell us what you want.
Actually, first and foremost. What's your budget?
Actually, first and foremost. What's your budget?
Please post pictures of the car you have, and look online for some inspiration for the car you would like.
Just for starters, the non VTEC engine is the most reliable, but in fact that slowest. Some dont mind that (such as myself) because the weight of the car is already light (atleast for the del sol).
Anyways, what is your budget? did you find inspiration?
Some common aesthetics mods may include body kits (ew.) but i prefer OEM genuine mods such as: Mugen parts, JDM or EDM parts, as well as rare parts and performance parts. What I did to my del sol was a stainless steel exhaust from the headers back, OEM Si wheels, and a few other fixes here and there. That being said, I am saving for JDM parts and upgrades that are TASTEFUL.
A lot of others also prefer to do an engine tuck. If you are not familiar, essentially all wires are rerouted through the fenders straight to the engine, and give the engine bay a "clean feel." It does look nice, but if it is done wrong, or your wiring goes haywire, than you are left with a huge mess...
If I were you, I would start saving up for some JDM upgrades. Headlights, taillights, Odds and ends items, maybe lower it (don't go cheap), put some nice seats in it and be happy!
All of this comes at a cost. My knowledge of del sol's is much more than civics, but from my knowledge here are some figures:
JDM Headlights/Tailights: $200+/$120+
Mugen Wheels: $1000+
Eibach Shocks and Springs: $500+
Good Turbo (Garret) for D series (guess): $3000+
Stainless Steel Exhaust system: $500+
Engine Tuck: Time+maybe $100+?
Good Racing Seats (Recaro): $600+
All of it comes at a price, but you will love it.

My goals are to just make it faster and make it look clean its lowered on ebay coils , its got a flat black paint job with OEM SI wheels some rot holes near the bottom door panels my budget isnt much pretty much just using my checks after my bills are paid from week to week which is like 100 bucks
Make a checklist of everything you think you might not need in your car, and then remove everything on said checklist. With $100/wk, that's about the only real way you're going to make it "faster".

Then don't worry about it going faster for now, focus on what makes this car look nice in your opinion and start searching prices across the interwebzzzzzz.

OP please read the FAQ and the RULES links provided to you then return with more specific questions you have to reach your goals.
What NotARacist has stated is quite relevant and I was hoping you would be directed tot he appropriate information once the thread got moved here from the Machining section.
Continuing a vague opinion poll like thread will likely end in closure.
Leaving open for the moment so you can come back with more specific technical questions you will likely have after reading up some. Also Trim level required so we know exactly what 95 Civic Coupe you are working with.
Can you please explain how a non vtec engine is more reliable than a vtec?

Are those good enough goals for you ?
Thank you any brand i should look for specifically for suspension ? Obv willing to spend decent money on this seeing as though this determines how well its going to ride

When you have specific technical questions feel free to start a new thread in this section.
In the mean time please attempt to learn the various areas of Honda-Tech and become familiar with them so that you can use the proper tool for the job. Taking a blow torch to your tires is not the most effective method of tire removal.
