Is the charging light coming on ? Year, make, and model ? What exactly is happening ? What tests have you done to determine the alternator is the problem ?

basics: battery cable connections clean and very tight (can't wiggle), voltage regulator?

Charging light isn't coming on, we tested the voltage with the car on and the battery in and it was at like 13 ish and then we disconnected the positive charge to the battery so the car would just be running on the alternator and it dropped to like 11.5 then the car died.

Cable connections are clean and very tight, and idk if it's the voltage regulator that's what I'm trying to figure out

Cool the car down completely. Start the car up so it's idling at around 1500+- 200. Turn the headlights on and check how much voltage you are putting out.

Warm the car completely up. Turn the headlights on and idle the car. Idle should be 800 or so. Check for voltage. Push the gas until you get about 2000 rpms. Hold it there and have someone check for voltage.

Post your results.
