Anyone use K&W fiber head gasket repair?
I'm mechanically inclined, have rebuilt numerous engines, just don't have time currently with other projects going on, and frankly it probably is not worth it. I have a Honda Civic that is 16 years old (102,000 miles - seems like time, not miles was the issue), been a good car, taken care of religiously... anyways, I get a misfire in cylinder 1 yesterday, and over the past few months have noticed small amounts of coolant missing, thought perhaps it was a slight leak out one of the hoses, that was evaporating out - not making a puddle.
Anyways, misfire, and bubbles coming out over flow tank hose... yep blown head gasket...
No water in oil, oil clean. So, seems it is slightly leaking into cylinder 1.
I said what the hell, and used the DuPoint K&W fiber head gasket repair with "nano technology". I have to say, this morning I had no misfire and the vehicle actually ran very well. I know Honda's for that year had issues with the headgasket at cylinder 1. Anyone use the K&W product, and if so, how long have you been using it without issue? Will probably look for a pre owned certified Hyundai here in the next few months, god willing if the gasket holds...

i've used it before on my cousins 96 civic and it worked perfectly all summer. her car was also burning coolant and needed to be topped off each week and the head gasket repair worked perfectly
I have similar symptoms as you (bubbles in the overflow hose/radiator, no white smoke, no milky stuff on oil cap). I tried Blue Devil head gasket stuff and it didn't work.
Thinking maybe I'll try K&W stuff before mad scientist and I rip apart the block (or cyl head :D)

Simple answer is.. it will work until it fails and until then don't worry about it. You know the proper way to fix it is with a new head gasket + machine shop cylinder head and anything less is just a gamble. Regardless of the car's age 102k isn't a lot of miles on a 6th gen. If, you plan to keep the car.. just hope that **** doesn't clog up the heater core or radiator.

the large blue devil bottle of headgasket repair is supposedly better than the smaller on, where you drain the block and radiator and fill it with that stuff plus reading whatever the directions says.
their entire product line has been recommended to me though i don't wanna use junk like that

Most people know the "proper way", but if there's a small chance that something such as BD or K&W could save you $500 and 8 hours of labor, it could be worth a try.

1) For large majority it doesn't fix the issue
2) For very small minority it solves the issue but, for less than six months
3) For most they end up doing what should have done in the first place: proper head gasket repair
4) Very possible that it creates additional cost and labor by damaging other parts.
As always it boils down to: your car, your choice and you do whats you wants.
Plenty of info and warnings on-line about the negatives of these products.

What, so they can dump the problem on some other unsuspecting sap without any warning? **** that. If you use a fix-in-a-bottle, you are wrong. That **** clogs up coolant passages, just like plaque clogs up your arteries. When your body can't get enough blood, you have major medical issues. When your engine can't get enough coolant, you have a destroyed block.

I know what it can do. I'm saying maybe some people just need it to last 6 months and they'll junk it, get something else, or have money to repair it.
