Default My ef

I have a 1991 ef hatch with the d16y8 engine. I am running the motor off a obd0 automatic integra ls ecu but the vtec is engaged by an rpm activated window switch. I am running a manual cable transmission, the original one that came with the car, but the car throws a check engine code. The code is the speed sensor. If I were to run a manual ecu would that clear the code?

Nope.
Is your speedometer working?

This code is related to the cable drive mechanism that is in the transmission. Usually people fail to put the clip back in and the cable pops out = speed sensor code.

That mechanism spins the cable core that connects to the back of your speedometer.
There is a sensor on the back of the speedometer that sends pulses to the ECU which is your speed signal.
That's why I asked if your speedometer worked. No speedo is a tell-tale sign for why people get the trouble code you say that you are getteing.

I would go through the whole speedo cable drive system and make sure it's in good order.
The cable can break internally and seem to work, but actually skips at times and causes the ECU to throw the code.

Other than that, you have a wire going from the back of the speedometer to the ECU. If you have done any wiring work, this might be an issue. Make sure the pins on the ECU connector are all seated within the connectors properly.
