93 accord ex auto tranny possible issues ?
hey everyone so basically my accord has always hiccuped when shifting. Its stronger when she first fires up and gets put into.reverse then d4 and once its been driving and auto shifting its barely noticeable basically I'm go. A start slowly pitting money into this car and I wanna make sure there isn't a major granny problem before doing so. When in d4 the light never lights up odl if that has anything to do with anything or mot besides the hiccups the tranny runs strong. Any help is appreciated
Swap the lamp of the D4 lamp with one of the other gears D3-1 to see if it is the lamp, if not check the base, look for cold soldering issues at the circuit board or even the wire connectors plugged into the board for any loose or damaged connections.
D4 is not needed for the trans to operate, but D4 is the only way to check for any stored codes in the TCU.
Verify the fluid is clean and red. Use a whte paper towel to wipe the stick off, if it has brown particles it may be time to do a change out.
Most gunk sinks to the bottom of the sump, only way to get that out is to pull the plug, it has a magnet on the end to attract ferrous bits.
I'd suggest changing out the sump contents, you will need to drain and refill X3. Do not use a power flush on Honda Automatics.
Pull the NM/NC sensors on the right hand side cover, they monitor shaft speed and if become covered in ferrous material can cause the transmission to have rough/erratic shifting.
Verify the throttle valve cable connected between the throttle body and transmission is correctly adjusted. When fully warmed up there should be no slack and no tension on the cable. When the throttle blade begins to open the lever on the trans should begin to lift.
Check for any stored engine codes as well, if the engine is in need of a tuneup or out of spec some other way it will affect how the transmission operates.

Thanks for your reply man I appreciate it I'm gonna check all these after work today and ill write my findings however i don't think the light is the problem with the d4 because I noticed this morning it lights up when I crank it then shuts off and that's the only time it lights up.
If the D4 lamp comes on with all the other warning lamps when turning the key to II(ON) then the lamp is fine.
Most likely the gear switch on the shifter is dirty.
