Default DC2 build or swap

Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a while, and I've moved on to a DC2 from my accord. I recently got a rebuild on my gsr engine with a .025 overbore. Turns out that my head gasket was faulty from the factory, so I had to take the head back off. I followed the bolt tightening sequences and torque specs to a tee from the helms manual, so it was definitely a faulty head gasket. I just wanted to get some opinions/answers. Since the head is currently off of the car, I was wondering if it were even possible to switch out for some higher compression pistons, like P73's. Of course I would get cams and a tune as soon as possible, so that's not the issue. The rebuild only has like 150 miles on it, so I'm thinking that the cylinder walls are unaffected. I know I know, I just got the engine rebuilt and I'm already wanting to change it, but I can already tell that it won't be enough power for me since I already have an lsd that will handle a lot more power before it even thinks about losing traction. Any thoughts? Plus, I'm debating an H23a DOHC h2b swap. So it's either the H2b swap, or I build my gsr. At the risk of being flamed, I'm posting this because I haven't really found much information on this. Any help at all would be great.

If you are capable of swapping pistons and rods and measuring all the clearances etc go for it, other wise it's not really worst it seeing as your gain will be minimal in a N/A b-series. it's your car if you want to do an h2b etc go for it, I don't know how new your accord is but maybe consider selling both and getting a 2013+ accord vs messing with old cars. It's still going to be "slow" either way just do what is fun and what you want to drop money on, I grew out of it after 2 big builds in 2.5 yr's time turned to lifted trucks and never looked back.

Oh no, I was saying that I've sold my accord, and now I have the GSR. I don't want to go turbo, but I do want an engine that will be be upgradable(not sure of that spelling) enough to have a good time with it while still being able to go around a corner. I know the H23a has the potential, and it's a stupid reason, but I like the way that the B18 DOHC vc looks more than then H23, but I could get past that. Then there's the hood clearance with H2b. I really don't want to prop my hood up in the back, and I don't know if they've come up with any other solutions for that. I haven't' found any plausible solutions with searching. If I'm going to go H2b then I've decided on the QSD kit for the ground clearance. I just want to know if the GSR engine is worth keeping and building rather than swapping it for the H2b setup.

Just saw your edit. You have a good point. I'm probably overthinking it, but I don't want to look back and regret not doing one or the other.

In N/A form TQ and displacement win 9/10 think of all the all motor K's most are sleeved to 2.6l but you get my point. you'll enjoy the h2b with an itr tans more than a gsr with p73's and all the money spent on a tune/parts you'll still be in the 200whp mark if that.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Thanks for the reply! Plus, my gsr engine is worth more than the H23a if I decide to sell it for swap funds. Why it's worth more, I'll never understand. Maybe because the gsr is a rarer engine.

Go for H22a. GSR is a torqueless pig. But since you have the head off don't forget, you can always do a lsv. That if done correctly will net gains meeting or surpassing the h22a. There are jdm f20b's on eBay for 500 bucks DOHC vtec blue tops, more powerful than usdm h22, I believe they boast 220 hp and 150 tq manual.

Thinking about it more id probably do ls vtec if I were you. That QSD kit is ******* expensive.
