I currently have a stock 96' Honda Civic Hatchback DX. I was going to go b18c / type r / or GSR but i've been getting into the K's and H's. I understand H's are heavy but have great torque and power. And then K has the power but is just $. Stuck on possible an H22 or H2b or a K20.

To be blunt there is no such thing as a best engine swap. Its a very subjective issue and even if you provide some sort of criteria for what you want out of it opinions will still vary.

None. Keep your vehicle stock since you are unaware of the cost/benefit/ and maintenance items each motor will require

 

Drop a v8 in there and call it a day.

OP did manage to get his question in here and not the engine management or all motor (or lighting, lol) sub forum, so I'd say that he's actually ahead of the curve for new users these days.

 

If you're a beginner (and you have a few dollars) go B18CR. Easy to install, reliable, fun, potential for more. If you have more ***** and time go H2B. This swap takes a long time to really dial in just right. There are a lot of small details to work out. This swap can be years in the making. Expect a headache. But if you get it right its a pretty rewarding project. K swaps, huge potential, although expensive ish. Plus its not really period correct. But there are less finicky details and annoyances as with the H2B.

454 swap would be so sick tho. Get that.

 

Sell it and trade it in for this!

 

Or just swap this motor in there!
