Besides tires and LSD, what else will help deliver more hp to your wheels?
There's always a saying that whatever your hp is rated at, only 80-85% is being applied at the wheels.

LSD and tires don't increase power to the wheels.

They say that due to frictional losses on the drivetrain

Have you ever turned the input shaft of a transmission? It takes some effort to do so. All the heard meshing, and all the bearings from the transmission to the hubs, and even the angle on the axle joints cause frictional losses.

To see if anyone else has any other ideas. No need to be hostile. I do believe that lsd and new tires helps maintain the power. Without lsd and bald tires, what scenario would that be?

Direct Drive - So you better convert to RWD and have a push start vehicle for all those stoplights.

You can cut down on some rotational losses with good fluid and coatings. Your gains will be minimal.

Your approach is all wrong...

Mechanical powertrains, consisting of engines, transmissions and driveshafts or axles will all have some power loss from flywheel to tires. You need to attack this in the other direction. Instead of working on improving the percentage loss of your current powertrain, focus on making MORE POWER. The loss is relative. As stated above, you will get miniscule gains from slicker fluids, metal gear treatments inside the transmission, and friction materials that will "slip" less between the flywheel and input shaft... and the expense will be great for most of these.

Just make more power and don't worry about what little is lost.

Jrcivic is right. But it would be nice to change out the stock joints and stuff before hopping onto the internals of the motor.

Yeah but there isn't really much meat on that bone. If everything is working correctly, these drive trains are pretty damn efficient.

Replace all bearings, make sure all of your gears are in good shape and the trans is assembled correctly... It is probably a 20 year old car we're talking about anyway... That's about all you can do. Then go make more power
