is it worth it to rebuild fully rebuild a 98 civic
so i have 98 civic ,stick and it has a bit other problems rust , exhaust pipe rusting out ,suspension frame rusted as well , would have to do interior and exterior work on it just wondering from the experienced people here if its worth it. its my only car right now should I stick with it or buy a different car I love this generation of civic
Any pics for us to judge the rust damage? It kinda all depends on how bad that rust is... If things are seriously rusted it's almost not worth it unless you want a long term challenge in life or you love working with a wielder.
Depends on your budget and the point of view.
lets say is it more expensive to buy the exact same car as that but in better conditions or perhaps even a project from someone else?
rather than reconstructing that whole car?

From the sounds of things, no. You can get a great condition 96-00 civic unmolested for $2,500 with 100k miles. They're a dime a dozen so if there's no sentimental attachment run it into the ground while saving for a nice unmodded one that some kid hasn't riced out or dogged

simple answer is---
if you want to keep the car 5-8 years to get your time/money back---sure its worth it.
If you value your time or money-- its probably not worth it.
Sell yours for 1k with rust issue-- save up another 1k and buy a better civic for 2k.
Or...start repairing your civic by putting say 400 in materials and 100 hours of your time into repairs.
Both answers end at roughly 2k-- its wether you want to pay yourself $8/hr to work on your own car--or you want to save the time.
Everytime I see the- auto to 5 speed swaps. I have no clue why anyone wouldn't just sell the automatic, and buy a 5 spd. Civics sell easily, and a quick craigslist search will yield any color, year, option combo and transmission you desire...for 2-3k.
