Default Suggestions on a 3/8 socket/driver set?

Hello all,

I've never owned a socket/driver set, and I was thinking about getting one so I can try to do some of my own work.

I was thinking of this
Williams one Williams one
for $40, but I wasn't sure if there was another with deep six-sided sockets that was better. Or if there were some cheaper drivers or socket sets. What would you guys & girls recommend?

Anything that can be purchased locally works for me. I use to be only craftsman, now I buy Husky and whatever else. Hardware stores are everywhere so it make sense to just by something available most places.

I tend to get craftsman when possible, simply becuase whenever i break stuff they exchange for new ones, no problem.

Craftsman wratchets with harbor freight deep 3/8" sockets can't go wrong for price and both are lifetime at their respective locations plus both are local.

If its just for DIY any hardware store brand Husky (Home Depot) or Kobalt (Lowes) will be fine, plus if it breaks bring it back and they'll replace it free.

Pretty much anything from Autozone to Homedepot will be fine these days. The old patents on the better ,more expensive tools have long expired and many of the off brand tools on the market are knockoffs.

Cant go wrong with any of them for DIY use in my opinion.

Thanks everybody. Will definitely check out those that warranty their stuff locally. Is a set of standard and deep metric sockets enough? Should I be looking into extensions of a certain size?

I use the Kobalt metric set at work and I love the feel of the ratchet plus it has a nice fine click gearing so if you're in a tight spot you can get a click off pretty easily. Whatever set you get make sure it has 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 19 both regular and deep sockets. Also it'd be nice to find a set that has 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets. Yes you have the occasional 21, 27 and odd sizes but that's rare. Here is a decent set at Lowes on sale for $119 regularly $169

Shop Kobalt Standard (SAE) and Metric Mechanic's Tool Set with Hard Case (200-Piece) at Lowes.com

I noticed that, too (about the Kobalt drivers). Pretty slick.
