Hey guys I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 178K Miles. Lately I have been smelling like a burnt plastic coming from the hood of my car. After looking under the vehicle its seems to be a melted black bag but not a hundred percent sure. Whats your opinion and experience with this? I just wanna be sure it is a plastic bag and nothing serious. If it is a plastic bag how can I take it off so it wont smell? Thanks for your help.

Looks like burnt plastic to me.

 

It's gonna last a WHILE depending on what kind of plastic it was. You can get MOST of it off by taking a spirited drive to heat the pipe then scraping it with a paint scraper... but it's still gonna stink. I avoid plastic bags like they're full of nails LOL.

 

Take a wire wheel to it , it'll be gone in 5 seconds

you could scrape it off with some thick steel wool.

 

cheap can of hairspray and a cig lighter.
oh wait that's for control arm bushings. 8)
