Default A/C after market switch makes car die out

Hi. My ac stoped blowing cold air about a month ago. The ac button lid up when pushed and the ac was set to the coldest setting but still no cold air coming out, just humid hot air. So I had a mechanic friend of mine install an aftermarket switch since the stock factory switch was not working anymore. The air blew ice cold when the switch was engaged but the car would start acting up. My car would breathe heavily and shake after reving it in park or accelerating, after about 2 times of reving my car at 2500rpm(I know.. nothing, right? ) my car will die out and shut off. The car runs good when the ac is off, but when i turn it on with the new switch all the problems start happening. Please help.. I need my AC, Texas weather sucks without air conditioning in my car. Would replacing the orignal ac push switch with another original stock switch fix my problem?
