Default 00 Civic clutch does not fully disengage

Hey everyone, I hope that you are well. I have had my HX for a couple of years now, 189,000 miles, and I love her, but recently, if I accelerate hard, the engine revs and I accelerate slower than I want. The car still drives fine, I just cannot accelerate as quickly as I want sometimes, but I cannot imagine this getting any better.

Do you have any idea what I should start checking?

Thank you very much! Please enjoy your day!

189k on the clock, your clutch is done. A clutch is a wear item, just like brake pads. Replace it.

Hey everyone! Thanks for your responses!

I do not have any CELs in my Honda and I have not noticed any leaks, but I cannot check right now because I finally finished replacing the head gasket in my Subaru and have been trying to track down those trouble codes. I am waiting for a ride to get my Civic.

I thought it was funny yesterday when I made one last trip to the Subaru dealership to pick up parts. I do not have any idea how many times I drove my Civic to gets parts for my Forester, but I never drove my Subaru to get parts for my Honda!

It was just interesting because the Subaru parts department was directly adjacent to the Honda dealership.

Please enjoy your day!

My clutch went out when attempting to drive uphill. I had my car towed to a shop, but unfortunately, I did not know of a good one in that area. I do not have a customary shop, I keep having bad experiences, so I have fixed as much as possible myself. My insurance company towed it to one chain shop, I had another location replace the timing belt on a different car, and then needed to have them fix it two weeks later. Apparently, the timing belt tensioner failed, but they wanted me to pay for a valve lash and some other expensive things that I did not need.

Two months and two thousand miles after having the clutch replaced, I cannot shift with the car on until I have driven about half a mile, but it is getting worse daily. Here in Arizona, it is usually at least 70°F when I go to drive, but that lowers daily.

I would like to have the shop fix it, if this is related to their recent repair. I just want to skip them attempting to convince me to pay for services that I do not need, and I cannot find anything relevant.

Thank you very much for any input you may have!

You likely have a problem with the clutch hydraulics. The hydraulics are responsible for DISengagement of the clutch thusly:

When you push your foot down, the CMC sends pressurized fluid to the slave cyl...which has a rod...which pushes a clutch fork...which pivots on a ball....which pushes the throw out bearing into the clutch fingers....which depresses the clutch fingers (so depressed...aww :'( )....which allows the engine to spin freely from the driveline....and now you can shift.

Feel me?

You may need a clutch adjustment or a new master/slave cylinder. Check your fluid. Is it low?
