D16Y8 Coolant Problems
I have a built D16Y8 boosted, I put some oil in it one day and drove it 3-4 blocks and see massive white clouds and I pull over and check it out seemed to be okay to drive home (1 mile) and I put it in my garage and did a few test compression check (120psi on all 4), oil wasn't milky, never overheated, block test (no change in color after 10mins). I then replaced the valve seals (didn't fix the problem) then I replaced the head gasket (thinking maybe that it was it) and after I did the head gasket I started it and it was at 3k rpms and had coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant (but didn't before I did the head gasket) So I kinda thought maybe I did something wrong, so I replaced the head gasket again. and the samething happened. Still smoking, oil in the coolant, coolant on spark plugs, it also still idles at about 3k. Anyone have any input?
sounds like the head gasket is not sealing, you may have a warped head or block. are you positive all coolant lines were correctly routed and not into the intake tract, iv seen it happen. Or maybe you did not torque the head down correctly.
There was coolant in the bypass hose from the thermostat to intake, but I believe that's correct. I'm going to do another compression test and block test to verify the head gasket is blown, but I did see coolant leaking from the back side of the engine. Yes I torqued it down right. Thanks for the input!
