Default Mudflaps and scraping (with a pic)

for those who are anti-mudflaps or say they scrape under hard cornering:

Close but no cigar.

so, mudflaps don't scrape, just come darn close.

im guessing the car in the pic isnt lowered, cause if your cars lowered very much, they're gonna scrape

depends on the speedbump.

yes, it'll scrape over some larger ones. even on some slopes of driveways.

I'm just pointing out that it DOESN'T scrape under hard cornering, which was an argument a few weeks back.

I have koni yellows with intrax springs. It's lowered, just not slammed like a lot of people tend to do. I'm sure if I was slammed (slammed, meaning, front wheels tucked under fenders...which is too low imho)...it'd scrape under hard cornering.

it really does depend on what springs you run.

hey driven, i'm with you there.. my friends car, Lt. Dan and i both run mudflaps and both autox.. he had about a 1 inch wheel gap with 15's and azenis, and runs 13x8 diamonds.. he doesn't scrape.. neither do i. i don't have a wheel gap in the front.. hehee. yeah, my car is a little too low..

your car may not be "slammed", but i'm sure it'll outhandle all of the "slammed" CRX's out there.. including mine.. until i throw on Lt. Dan's old suspension, Koni yellows with 550lb front and 600lb rear springs and an Addco swaybar. eheheheee.

and mudflaps look good.

that crx is not scraping because its suspension is done properly.
i think that ride height is nice.. not too low, not too stock..

hell, my mud flaps scrape even though i didnt even touch on suspension on my car yet. (on speed bumps that is..)

what?

You can kinda see the "Honda" imprint on the flaps.

I believe this is under light acceleration...so the suspension has not shifting to the front of the car. So, it's not slammed, but it's not stock height either.

"slammed" cars aren't "slammed" for the purpose of handling.
they (we) obviously don't care about handling.
it's a look thing.

and don't say that's rice because it's a "look thing"...rice is rice, but because it's low does not make it rice. covering my butt

but, you're on stock wheels? so, it's obviously not competely a "look" thing.

but, agreed, the "slammed" look is just that, a look that isn't the best for handling or even daily driving (anyone who complains about their stock wheels rubbing knows what i'm talking about).

My mudflaps are 1/2 inch off the ground. They scrape all the time.

right but my personal "style" (if you want to call it that), has always been stock alloys. every honda i've had, has had Honda alloys of some sort. both kinds of CRXs, 2000 Si's, 2000 optional Si's, delsols, whatever.

big rims (even 15s to me) are just negative-attention getters and rub more.

but they allow to run bigger brakes (reason why i have 15s) and wider tyres!!!
