Best media to use in abrasive cabinet
Good morning guys and gals. I was not sure if this was best suited for here or more a "paint oriented" question. I am now doing full fabrication and powder-coating in house and was curious as to what you guys would recommend for an enclosed blast cabinet, as far as media goes? I will be stripping items (valve covers, intake manifolds, and things like that). I want something abrasive enough to not spend all day prepping, but no pitting soft aluminum. Thanks guys.
There are options. Walnut seems to be a good one for aluminum. I was told the rule of thumb is finer media gets gentler/smoother results where course is more abrasive but puts in work.
Right, well to be honest that's a pretty generic questions. I am looking for a happy median. I am looking for someone who actually does this and can apply knowledge they use? I think I am going to try Walnut, as I heard it was a good one as well. I just want to spend an adequate amount of time prepping, not all day, but then at the same time make sure I don't destroy the finish lol.
