Default 95 Accord EX ac compressor not the same as 94 Accord EX

My ac compressor clutch plate recently went up on my 1994 Accord EX so I bought a good used ac compressor with clutch plate from a 1995 Accord EX (thinking mostly all 94-97 Accord parts are the same). When my mechanic disassembled everything to get to the compressor he noticed that all the flanges for the hoses were different on the 95 ac compressor. He wasn't even trying to pull it out then to see if the clutch plate was the same. Has anyone else experienced the same problem, or are the 94 Accords different in some way??

For some strange reason it appears the 94 is different from the 95-97 models, which are all the same.

First year new models tend to be bastards. Compressor may be a carryover from the earlier model or possibly it is due to where the car was built or even what model it is.

Yep. This happens on most vehicles. These parts are rarely factory parts, but manufactured by a 3rd party (like Denso, Panasonic, Matsushita, etc). Parts like transmissions and compressors are very specific. Even if they bolt on and are adapted to function, the displacement may be too big or too small for the system.

In my experience, the base model vehicles (4 cylinder models) will use a different compressor than the V6 models. The 88-91 and 92-95 civics used 4 different compressors in the US. If you use one that is incorrect, the idle correction the ECM will apply to the engine may be too high or too low for the part.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I should have researched more before I bought the part.
