2000 civic ex d15b7/96 y8 head help

Default 2000 civic ex d15b7/96 y8 head help

So I bought a 2000 civic the guy I bought it off of blowed it up made me a good deal on it so I picked it up so I know that the original motor to the 2000 ex is the d16y8 well the motor in it is a 96y8 and a d16y7 block the heads still good I came across a good running d15b7 I want to install the 96 head on it that was originally on the y7 block can I just completely go to obd1 with the p28 ecu also do I need the obd2b jumper for obd1 ?? Plz help

ok, you have an OBD2b civic with a trashed OBD2a "franken-D16." you want to keep the VTEC head to swap onto a running OBD1 D15. you need to know how to do this and what, if any wiring or converting will be involved. correct?


my recommendation is to save yourself the trouble and just install the D15B7 as is. there are some simple mods to make the current engine harness work with the OBD1 engine. a quick search should get the details for you on that. an ECU conversion harness will let you run the P06 that goes with the D15. easy peasy.
