This is from the same people who said the Sentra Spec V was going to become the best FF drive car and IMHO are not a very reliable source for information.

IMHO, unless you must have a brand new car, DC2-R will be "better" car for most people.

Why? Proven parts that are fairly inexpensive, tons of tuning capability in every part department and "better" suspension.

DC5-R to me is a bloated pig.

My driving experience with the DC5 Type S definitely reinforces this statement. I can only assume the dc5-R is similar in its pigness.

it's not just SCC that's saying this...even some Honda-Techers with inside tracks are saying the same thing.

that proves it there ...they cant even get the HP rating right ...220 ps = 217 hp ..not 220 ... getting reliable info from SCC is not possible ...

we are gonna get the Performance Package before we get any DC5r ..why woudl acura sell a Performance Package and a type r in the same line of RSX's

DC5-R is lighter than the DC2-R... so.. i dont know how bloated it will feel but it is lighter on paper.

not that I have an ITR now, but only a JDM spec DC5R, full blown in all of its Brembo laden, Recaro goodness, would get me to buy a new car. Until that almighty R comes stateside, I'll keep my Hybrid EG, thanks.

*its too bad they dont bring the DC5R or CTR over here, it really is a shame.

the only downside is that any Type R that makes it to our shores woudl be diluted as usual..meaning ...no brembros ..no recaros ...less hp .... but at least we'd get the LSD ....hopefully

and i'm pretty sure if we dont get the brembros ....then we wouldnt get the Dc5r 17 inch wheels ...we'd get the gun metal RSX aussie wheels ...which is pretty much the same boring looking RSX wheels painted gun metal ....

fact is that its just rumors. nobody knows for sure. I like the RSX S and think the DC5R would be a great car and faster stock for stock against a 195hp and heavier DC2. there probably isnt as much tuning and parts available for the DC5R but that would only be a matter of time. I hope the DC5R comes here but no in PY

I thought the DC2-R was lighter than the DC5-R? I know the DC2-R is lighter than the RSX-S. so unless they removed close to 100+ pounds...someone have more concrete info on this?
2001 ITR: 2639 lbs.
2002 RSX-S: 2766 lbs.

1) Too low a volume car to make fiscal sense for importation
2) Would compete with S2000 sales
3) Too expensive in Japanese form (Brembos, Recaros)
4) Won't be competitive performance-wise with other manufacturer's rice rockets of similar price (Lancer EVO, WRX STi, 350Z etc etc)

I cked the weight of mine and it was 2500 something or other but was not above 2600, and the RSX is more:
Manual: 2694 lbs (1222 kg)
Automatic: 2771 lbs (1257 kg)
RSX Type S: 2767 lbs (1255 kg)

FACTS:

Honda is getting their AZZ kicked in the small car market right now .............

SI's are just sitting on the lot because the SVT, the SE-R, the Protege series of sporty econo-boxes and the upcoming Neon SRT-4 own it .......

Car and Driver just gave their biggest econobox seller (the Civic LX 4-door) 5th place in a comparison test (and whether we HT'ers like it or not, C&D hold a lot of clout in the Automobile purchasing world) ........

Every other manufacturer is releasing $26,000 cars with MUCH more hp and options (except Toyota) .........

Honda has to wake up, or they are going to lose the market segment big time .......

very valid points ..unless the Dc5r is running 14.00 flat 1/4 mile times ...like the 350z ...or low 14's like the WRX , and coming Evo ..then its not gonna be a contender

it may not be all that worried, since I would expect that they make more money on each Odyssey, Accord and Pilot that they sell..
