Default Passing tech

Planning on going to test and tune at Virginia Motorsports Park on the 22nd. My first time drag racing, so I just wanna make sure I've got everything ready to pass tech. Can anyone give me any tips? Thanks.

BTW-I'll be racing my '89 CRX HF with ZC.

WEAR LONG PANTS!!
make sure everytime u race ur windows are up.. if not they will take u out ot racing at the 3rd offence
make sure u start going right when the second yellow light turns off.,.. thats what counts for the RT this its the sequence. red light-yellow-then 2nd yellow-turn off yellow (you start goin)-then green....and u get a nice RT..
on ur car i recomend to let the clutch go @ 3500 rpms...
for further info do a search on the drag forum.....

Dont drop the cluitch. <---------------------

stageing is when the first yellow light turns on on the top keep rolling then when the sec ond one turns on slam on your brakes. go slow. then your ligned up.

passing tech:

make sure if your CAI is not that thight get a cover for your + battery terminal

battery can move at all

cant leak fluids. can leak some just not like spewing out of your car

have to have windows up

seats in bolted well

seatbelt bolted well
nothing that can fall offff car

coreect stock lug nuts or better style

no hub caps on or wheel bolt ocvers

no visible belts on tires

just general stuff to make it a happy day.

Prolly wont need a helmet unless that ZC is gonna run 13's

be calm shift at redline try not to spin them much in second haul *** and run high 14's

GOOD LUCK

The tech here is pretty easy to pass if you have an ordinary looking car. ie. You don't have an older domestic the you have to yell over the engine while it's idling.

Seriously, make sure the battery is secure, windows are, seatbelt works, you have the hood up before the inspector gets to your car. Also, make sure there's nothing loose lying in the floor of your car. Usually, if it's only a test and tune, most of the times they just look under your hood to make sure there's nothing visibly wrong.

Everytime I took my old Supra up there I never had any problems, and it had a big a$$ dent in the rear 1/4 panel that the idiot I bought it off of did. And whenever I take my MR2 up there, they kinda just scratch thier heads when they look at it, like they've never seen a mid-engine car and pass it. I haven't taken my Civic up there, but I know I won't have any problems with it.

Oh! Here's a good tip. If you're running on street tires DO NOT do a burn out. You're just going to make your tires more slippery.

Anyways, good luck.

At my track they're like:

"is that water that you're running in there"

"Yes"

then he wiggles the battery to make sure it's secure - "Ok, go ahead"

Yeah, I've known this tip for a long time, still makes me laugh when people do a burn out on radials!

I'll be borrowing my friend's slicks, they are mounted on his stock steel '94 Jetta wheels (14" I guess). He told me to dump the clutch while sitting at 3000rpm... is this right?

When it comes to if you should dump the clutch or not, that all depends on your car. Some you can dump the clutch, and with others it's better to slip the clutch. It's one of those things you have to try both ways and find out which one you get better times with.

And going back to the burn outs on street tires, the best one I've ever seen was an AWD Talon trying to do one......needless to say, the buy was a complete tool.
