Ok, so I'll try not to make this to long, I have an h22 ek hatch and I keep throwing a cel code 21, vtec spool. Now everything I have read on this code is so vague. I have taken off the vtec, and cleaned it, replaced the gaskets, regrounded, and put back on. Then reset the ecu. It's runs great for about 300 or so miles and comes back. What's my next step? How do I find out if it's the ecu? When the cel comes on the car goes into limp mode and I'm back at square 1 again.

 

Make sure the Activation conditions are setup correctly and your engine makes proper Oil Pressure(although doubtful this is the issue)

Make sure the Vtec Pressure switch is Disabled(Unchecked).

I'm sure your Vtec Solenoid is malfunctioning tho.

To get rid of the CEL popping up Just (Checkbox) "Disable spool error check"
