Default P72 vs P72-1

So I am working on swapping out the head on my GSR for a clean new top end off another GSR, due to my valves going bad.. (Posted for help and advice in another thread)

Anyways I was pulling off the Intake Manifold off the old top end to put it on the new top end so that I can begin assembly under the hood again... While doing so I noticed a slight difference in the heads... Besides the newer one being cleaner it looks slightly bigger then the old one and it is stamped P72.. I looked at the old head in the same spot and it was stamped P72-1.

Anyone know the difference? Im guessing it may just be a newer model versus an older one.. But thats a guess. Any input? Thanks Honda Tech!

ALL b-vtec heads are the same and interchangeable. Exceptions do apply as far as combustion chambers and intake manifold/bolt pattern are concerned. But OBD0 can be swapped with OBD2 and vice versa. Dizzy plugs and injectors will change, but the head will fit and bolt on.

Post up pics comparing what you think is different.

No doubt they will work and bolt-on no problem that wasn't the concern i was just curious what the difference between p72-1 and just p72 was...

I don't have a garage at my house the EJ1 Is at my dads in his garage so I'll post pics of the stamp difference when I get down there this Saturday.

^^x2, the year it was made etc. Same head, the only thing that changed to my knowledge in the newer gsr heads is the coolant bleeder valve location, from water neck to head.

bolt it on and go, swap necessary things like distributor, injectors etc.
