Hello folks,

I'm getting a P1457 code. I was doing a little troubleshooting and tried testing the purge control solenoid valve (I believe that's the correct term) with a vacuum pump and a couple of test leads. The valve holds vacuum fine ... but when I apply 12 volts to the connector contacts, it doesn't release the vacuum as I expected it to. I do hear a click when I apply voltage. I should expect the valve to open with the solenoid energized, correct?

Just to be clear (and in case I got my part ID messed up), this is the solenoid valve under the hood that has a hose that connects to the throttle body. It has a squarish connector, and it sits next to a similar vacuum solenoid valve with a round connector.

I only have a Honda FSM for the 2.3 cars.
And the code/diagnostics covers the whole EVAP system, not just the purge valve.
P1457 is an 11 page diagnostic in the Honda FSM.

Testing of the purge valve via vacuum is only to check that it holds vacuum, next step is to verify body ground on one terminal, and battery voltage on the other when the ignition is on.
