Default Vacuum vs Electric controlled EGR valve

Hi,

Typically your EGR valve is controlled by a vacuum hose running to your intake manifold through a control solenoid. With this system you have 3 wires running to your EGR valve (valve lift sensor) and 2 wires running to a separate control solenoid.

Some newer (if not all or most them ?) engines come with electric controlled EGR valve, which has a plug with 5-wires.

Now the question is: are these two EGR systems interchangable?

Can I replace the vacuum controlled EGR valve with electric controlled EGR valve just by re-arranging these 5-wires (and plugging the vacuum hose connection in the intake manifold) ?

thank you for any replies!!!

i highly doubt they are interchagneable. you can always try, but i suspect the solenoid that controls vacuum is actuated differently than the electronic control as fr as whether is straight off or on or a potentiometer.
