Civic Exhaust System
Hey everyone,
So, when I first bought my 2000 Honda Civic Coupe last year, the OEM exhaust system was running well. However, because of NY winters, I started to have a lot of issues with it and being my 16 year old self (now 18), I bought a stupid eBay fart-can kit to put in my car. The mechanics could put everything in except the headers and I believe the downpipe? Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was because of something with a catback and an o2 sensor. I'm not sure. Hopefully someone can clarify that for me. but what can I say? It was cheap. Well now, I hate it and it's already having issues. For one thing it's obnoxiously loud and for another, when I step on the gas, it sounds like a tugboat. It sounds like a gasping almost so I'm guessing something is leaking or there is a hole somewhere. I just wanna get rid of it because it's too damn noisy.
Now that I am a little more financially stable and I just had a graduation party recently, I want to put an actual exhaust system on my car. I don't know much about cars but from my experience, rockauto.com seems like quite an okay place to order car parts from.
I found this kit for my car:
More Information for BOSAL KIT21326602
but as you can see...Part a and b aren't included in the kit. and those parts aren't available on rockauto from what I can see. I'm pretty sure if I just went to my mechanic and asked him to put an OEM exhaust on that it would be around $500+ dollars. I could be wrong but I would ideally like to try to avoid that route.
Could someone explain what those parts are and maybe where I could find them? or is there any other routes that I haven't discovered yet.
Any input/help is very appreciated. Thanks for reading and I apologize for the wall of text!!

a/b are the manifold and cat. they don't need replaced if not damaged. you can have an oem style exhaust made for you at virtually any muffler shop for $150 or less, you might want to consider it.
Thank you for this idea. I found a local shop via google search that does "Custom repairs". I will definitely call them tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Maybe they can do something to make it quiet rather than replacing everything.
midas, etc. any local muffler shop is more than capable. you have cat on manifold, being as you have a dx. this is why they didn't replace the manifold with your aftermarket header last time. if there is a problem with it, it will be MUCH cheaper to have that manifold installed, a universal converter installed under the car, and the exhaust ran from there.
