I have a 2005 Honda Civic (4-Door) and want to fold down the rear seats. The manual says to use a key and, for the driver's side rear seat, to insert the key and turn clockwise and push the seat forward. To fold the front passenger side rear seat, you insert the key and turn the key counterclockwise and the seat is supposed to fold down.

After trying the procedures, the seats do not fold down.

Any suggestions?

 

The key will work, but I've found in my '05 EX that the mechanism doesn't work so great, it can be stubborn and takes some effort and muscle to get the seat to unlock. Turn the key harder, while wiggling the seat back itself.

 

Look in the trunk to see if the metal bars from the lock to the seat latch are connected
