1994 honda accord 250,000 miles D4 multiple blinks
i have been reading and searching through this forum, to try to fix my problem.
I have definitely learned alot about my car from this forum, Im at a point now where I need to clarify some step of troubleshooting.
Im praying some kind soul will be able to talk me through fixing it, I can't afford another car, or to pay to fix it.
so i will try describe my problems and have questions along the way.
D4 blinks and check engine light stays on, car wont start, at first, only happened after driving when its hot outside.
I changed the ATF.
I took out the TCU and inspected it, it has 0 burn, it looks new all over it.
I read that could be main relay, HEAT problem, took that out today, only 1 spot on it that looks tiny, tiny bit corroded, basicly it looks fine. i will try to post pic
the car never stalls when the D4 starts to blink, the car never stalls at all, it just wont start if the check light stays on after key to on, and D4 blinkin. so im thinking its not the relay but I dont know the complete deal with the relay, will car keep running if it fails??
ok my TCU codes, when problem first happened they were 7,8,17,18
1 and 2nd gear only at this point
cleared those, checked TCU - then was fine for a while.
now its daily D4 blink - codes 1,2,3,7,8
OHMs of the solenoids is 30
they all click with 12v applyed
code 1
in the book troubleshooting it states measure resistance between A6
and A25 or A26 -with key off,
Q: with harness pluged into TCU or not?
i get 18 ohm
books says 14-16 check for loose TCM connectors
substitute good solenoid or TCM
HOw do i check for loose connector
I took out TCU - there is nothing burnt on the board...
the harness plug- A6 i cant see the connector in there but cant get the wire out of the plastic harness eather, i was gonna tighin it
code 2 - same deal
resistance between A4 and A25 is 18
ok im sure im missed something
please help
god bless

So when the car won't start, what is missing.....spark, fuel.....I'd hope it is getting air.
No codes from the CEL?
If the main relay is bad, it will not run the fuel pump and a few other things.
Don't take this the wrong way....this is a forum, people post how and when they feel like it....be an a#* and that is what you will get.
Last, to me, you have two issues....a trans issue of some sorts and a no start issue....trans codes, that I know of, have never prevented an engine from starting....so why you are so "fixed" on the trans codes because the car won't start has me confused.......good luck.

No such codes as 17 and 18 on the OBDI TCU. Only 15 codes via D4.
If you are getting a TPS code(3), then the TCU will not command an upshift.
Verify damage to wiring harness.
Verify grounds to engine/body/transmission are intact, clean and tight.
Verify battery terminals are clean and tight.
Verify battery is fully charged.
