Price to sell my 1999 Accord w/ Blown Engine
My 1999 Accord EX engine blew. 138,000 miles. Thought it was going to go for another 100,000 miles...so put in a new clutch, brakes, and wheel bearings. Within the year I had the timing belt, water pump replaced and bought 4 snow tires. Car is still in good shape...leather interior could use a good cleaning, but other than that, no body rust and everything works. Car continues to start up immediately, but not drivable past a mile without the temp gauge skyrocketing. Tried to get a price on KBB, but they will not give a price if the car does not run. Anyone have any ideas what I should ask for it? Several neighbors have inquired about buying it...even with the blown engine. Thanks in advance for your help!
when you're sure what the issue is, and if it is in fact a blown engine that needs to be replaced, price the car around blue book value minus the cost of the repair to make it run again.
example: KBB= $3,000
Repair= $2,200
KBB-Repair=$800 to sell it to one of your neighbors.
though more often the resulting price is negative. basically it's "totaled" until repaired.
do some looking around at what people are selling "shells" for. that's pretty much what you have if the engine doesn't run.

It really depends on the condition of the body&interior. However, with it being a stick, that doesnt help. Anyway, those 2.3 engines are not expensive, and easy to install. Id say $500, if the body/interior is a little rough, but if paint is good...and interior is really nice. Then maybe upwards of $900-100

From my observation, and I have bought and sold quite a few accords, people wanting to buy these cars, are looking for a reliable point a to point b cars. Many times, it is younger people especially females, who cant afford a nicer car...who want to buy them, and many times...they cant drive stick. Or in my case...dont want to fight a clutch everyday in traffic.
