Default 98 /2000 will parts fit?

I have a 98 honda civic ex sohc vtec that the motor may be bad. A buddy of mine has the same car but a 2000 year model. Same motor. If I pull the motor off the 2000 civic and put it in my 98 will it work?

no need to be sorry, there are a million stickys at the top of the forum to cover just about any general question you may have about basically anything pertaining to a 92-00 civic. if you get stumped with a more specific issue, this forum can be very helpful. when general laziness rears its all too common head in here, someone is always around to chop it off.

Yes just reuse your distributor and exhaust manifold for plug and play as long as both your engines are manual transmission or both auto. Not trying to spoon feed but at this point if someone searches and finds this thread it won't be a waste of their time.

Thanks guys. See the problem I'm having on my 98 is when I start my car it ideals fine and runs good for about 15 minutes and then when I get to a red light the car just shuts off and when I take off the car starts to bog out while giving it gas but if I'm running at high rpm (4grand) it runs good but if I'm driving at low rpm and try to pass a car it spits and sputters. A guy told me my motor is bad but it just don't seem as if it is. But hey what the hell do I know lmao.😂

The only code that pulled up was the air temperature sensor. And I changed it out and it did the same after the code cleared. And the the last tune up was about 6 months ago. New plugs, wires, distributor cover.

Yes we went through the vacuum leak process and we didn't find anything.

Could it just be a timing issue?

Check your ignition and cam timing to confirm and rule out.
