I was wondering if you needed to do anything to the block to put a h22 head on a f23 block besides maybe the tensioner, the water pump pull, and the water pipe, but those aren't really block mods? I can't really think of anything you would ever need to do to the block but I want to make sure because I have limited time to do block work. Call me stupid but I'm going to gather my parts, do head work, etc before and then pull the engine out of my car, rebuild, and put it back in and try to get it finished in a weekend. I do have a car to fall back on but I want it done fast. Anyway, no oil ports need to be blocked on the block, just the head? Also it's just the 2 by the timing belt that need blocked right, no others?
Also just a side question. Does anyone know the fly cut depth on h22a4 pistons? I want to know to tell the people I'm going to have make custom pistons made the depth I want, I usually go a little deeper as a precautionary measure and to make it easier on myself.

 

Unless you're swapping rotating assembly parts like pistons, rods, etc. Then no, the block needs no physical modifications. What ever head you use make sure you use the matching timing gears on the water pump and crank. And no head work/upgrades is not crazy.
