hi guys, i want to install a rear fog light on my coupe, what i want is during daytime, it will be on when i press the break, and during nighttime, it will be always on.

just wondering can i wire the fog light with break lights? or do i have to do something else to make it work in the way i want.

 

Different jurisdictions have different laws in regards to how lights on your car work. This advice is not at all legal advice. What you want to do may or may not be illegal.

You'll need a 5 pin relay, and a little bit of fancy wiring.



Wire 85 to ground. Wire 86 to your fog light switch. Wire 30 to the rear fog light power feed. Wire 87a between your brake switch and light (so it only sees power when your foot is on the brake). Wire 87 to your fog light power source (unswitched).

That should work.

You should not have the rear fog light always on. Nor one that acts like a brake light. It's not a fog light then, is it? I can't support this post.

 

I added the legal warning for a reason. FWIW, what you want to do is illegal in the state of Virginia.

 

Illegal in Florida, and IMO, rude to other drivers.
