98-0290 Raped + Recovered
The cops finally let me go see her after calling me at 2:40 AM Friday to let me know it was recovered. With the holiday weekend, they were waiting until Monday before trying to pull more prints. According to one of the cops I talked with, the car was in the process of being stripped and 3 ppl were arrested and subsequently let go until the cops can prove more than present at the scene of a crime. I did my own investigation and found 3 men booked and released under the same pretense/accusation. Have not heard back from the main investigator as I have more questions for him.

At least some of your parts are still there! Sucks to here man. Especially the part where the thieves were arrested and let go when common sense says they are the one that deserves to have justice served to them

Bastards! At least they were caught in the act. One of them will snitch on the others, they always do. It's great that a lot of the parts were recovered with the shell, having the original matching parts (assuming they are) will be pinnacle for the rebuild. I would definitely buy this car back from insurance! Sorry for your loss.
as it would suck that you would have to put it all back together...hopefully if they were unable to pull any prints off the vehicle/parts they caught them with gloves as well..
Sorry to see her like this, she looked damn clean beforehand. Hopefully the cops can put the screws to those three losers arrested with it. If they can recover the doors and dash, it may not be a bad restoration. They stripped her good though, a lot of little bits missing. ugh
Sorry to hear about the theft. The curse of thieves still thrives for these Type R's.....almost 20 years later. Guys that have Type R tributes put their car at risk too. Like a banner for thieves. It's disheartening and irritating.
It's in great shape. I like to keep it clean.
No, everything still in the impound lot waiting for insurance to move it to Insurance Auto Auction for inspection.
I feel bad that I'm leaning towards walking away because I know it's a big and expensive project to bring her back to life.

Sucks to see your car in this condition man. I hope for the best with the rebuild if you go that route. Side note crazy the hood fit inside I wouldn't think it would
So much random stuff missing. If they were smart they would have just taken the parts that have value like the swap, seats, 5 lug and ditched it. Who needs a ITR gas door? lol
It was funny seeing my green Hamp oil filter because I've been using Wix filters on my other cars. Haven't driven it much at all over the last few years, so the last time I changed the oil was atleast 2 summers ago.
What a tragedy! still looks rebuildable without a doubt. Don't let them stop you. I hope all your parts are recovered. I hope you at least buy it back, and resell it to someone who may wish to save this car.

Wow, very sorry to see a '98 that was in such good shape now look like that!...
Any sharable details on the theft itself? How long did they have it for them to strip her down that much?

Very sorry that happened to you bud. I hate to see it happen to anyone and can't imagine the emotions I would feel if it were me. I know it wouldn't change the passion I have for heR and these cars. I can see how one would question whether to walk away, rebuild and or even find another if this was too much for one to bare. It really sucks man. Personally, for me, it would depend on the condition it was in when it was recovered. After seeing the condition yours is in, I would definitely buy it back and rebuild. I've seen worse turned around. It would just take time and effort. I'm sure many here in the community would be willing to take it off your hands as a rebuild project. What ever your decision I wish you the best of luck going forward.
P.S.
I'm looking for a project myself wink wink
