Default Help! How to remove parking brake **** (Civic EK)

Hi,

I tried to remove stock parking brake button from 99 Civic EK and replace it with my new Cusco spinturn ****, but the e-brake button doesn't come off the e-brake. It's pretty tricky stuff. I twisted it a bit and then it stucked, it doesn't go further it's just turning around &around.

- Please help! I don't want to damage the **** or anything else.

and here's the comparison between Civic and Altezza's spinturn ****.

Report:
I didn't get any answers from anyone, so I did it by myself for the first time.
This is the process:

1. Remove the handbrake plastic cover grip (easy)
2. For those who want to replace the oem **** to threaded ****, like I did:
you have to "destroy" the button, YES! it is the only way to get that button off the stick, since it is pressed on it really hard and it is blocked- it is solid from both sides.

For those who want to replace the oem **** with new oem ****:
You need to replace the whole handbrake stick (button and handbrake stick can't get apart!)

I have used a pair of pliers, grips, mini hand file, mini-saw and some other tricky hand tools to do the job, it took a lot of time and patience to get it off, but at the end it is a big relief. (see the photo bellow)

So a rotary tool, like a dremel could do the same thing.. But that's awesome you got it off, I was wondering how it came off, I never did like the button on mine! good post!

Thanks!

Yes, you can use some kind rotary tool to grind off some plastic, but please secure the area around, otherwise those pieces will be everywhere.

I am pretty disappointed bout how kn0b is attached.. it's meant to be never removed.

And for those who want to install Cusco spinturn **** in future, note:
fitting described as "EK9" is pointless, no matter what kind of Cusco **** you will use on a Honda. after all, you need to have these tools to make thread on the handbrake stick, some cars like "GT86" feature threads from the factory.
