Uploading base tune to S300 on Desktop in living room??
So I got a new Base tune to upload to my S300. I looked it up and know how to upload it. I have the Smanager S300 program on my Desktop though
in my house.
So my question is can I still upload the new tune to it, without the ignition on and all that, I had it hooked up yesterday in my living room and I could bring up what was on it currently so, I just want to make sure before trying.
Thanks Guys!

No.
I highly doubt you were able to connect to s300 by having the ecu sitting in your house disconnected to the car as s300 requires the ignition to be on to even power the s300 board in the ecu.

Yes, you can upload the calibration/tune to your ECU from a desktop. However, you will need to apply +12v power and ground to the ECU as it must be "on" to accept the upload.
Hint: pins A25 and A26 are the pins you will need to look at.

He could do that, it its not something I would suggest simply because I don't know of he's electronically capable of doing so without killing the ecu.

Dammit I wrote a big reply and this is a month old. Sorry....
Make a usb wire longer with ethernet wire, and a usb hub if you need a repeater? It works on 50ft runs, ran sewing machines for a client that way.
Buy a laptop? Black friday is soon. Best Buy always tends to do those Toshiba Satellites for $200, be same as cost of moates bench tester. I can sell you a used one... I own a computer business lol
Use a wifi usb hub..http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Wireles...reless+usb+hub but this would be less reliable than making a cable. Not to mention more expensive.
Buy a bluetooth adapter for hondata and desktop and hope you are close enough?
Buy a freakin laptop tho. Used laptops can be $100...

OK, most all of this is wrong. While it is true that you can only DOWNLOAD via the "Online -> Download" drop down menu, I found a work around.
So, I will put this to rest once and for all. I want to point out that all of what I am about to say is based off of using the latest SManager update and S300 v3 firmware.
1.) Plug in USB cable to S300 then to PC.
2.) Verify green light comes on solid (this is how you know it has power).
3.) Start SManager on your computer.
4.) Verify that the red light is blinking by the USB port on S300 board.
5.) Open your tune file you want to load.
6.) Click on "Online -> Information".
7.) Click on "Registered Owner" tab.
8.) Click on "Update S300 with Owner's Details" if this has never been done before.
9.) Click on the "Calibration" tab.
10.) Here you can do what you want - Upload, Download, or Delete the S300.
11.) If you decide to click on "Upload" then watch in amazement while the red light goes from blinking to a solid glow.
I verified that it works by loading and downloading tunes and making minute changes. If there is something I missed I am ALL ears. Have fun!

Why are you posting this here?
Did you notice how old this thread is?
Can you not read? I wasn't talking to you, but now I will.
It was stated a couple times you need to supply power through pins when you don't. Even your answers were full of mostly pointless BS when all you need is the cable that already comes with the S300. Also, you even "bumped an old thread". My bad, I didn't realize that posting extremely relevant information to a thread only 2 months old with bad information was a crime. I didn't just stop in to say buy this or that, but how to ACTUALLY answer the OPs question. Next time instead of quoting me and crying, just hit the report button.
Now we both bumped an "old pointless thread" yet again, thanks for cluttering up the EMS section.

I honestly do not know. That's why I took the time to bold the "v3" part earlier and make my disclaimer statement as opposed to a blanket statement that was previously made by others. I have a friend that still has a v2, but I probably won't be able to get his ECU out until he parks it for the winter.
It is unfortunate that Hondata is always so vague with their descriptions on upgrades. For some, that could be the reason they spend the extra money to upgrade to a v3.
Keep in mind though like was said, unless you follow my steps, you can only Download from the drop down menu. Kinda weird they would program SManager like that...

Yeah, v2 definitely will not power up via USB that was one of the first things I tested when I got it. It would be cool if it did.
Maybe email hondata to get a confirmation if v3 can power on via USB.
Download being in the drop down only is a bit odd. (Besides the area you mentioned) You can upload using the shortcut buttons, but not download. Idk why they did it like that.

Yes, here is your answer for v1 and v2...

We shall see what they say about my post about I can do it LOL!

I agree, they totally need to market that. The fact that you can power it via USB is a huge deal.
Whelp, I guess it doesn't work. See my thread at Hondata on why they say so... it's just a "storage" spot. Definitely weird to have though, but for ***** and giggles I am still going to try it out on a running car and see what happens. Might take me a while though, but I will definitely report back on what the outcome is. In a way it doesn't make sense why they couldn't make it work without powering the ECU. Oh well...
I don't see the point of the storage feature. There is no technical reason it can't fully be USB powered like the Moates Demon.
Exactly, that's why I got trigger happy when I finally got around to testing it and thought it was exactly like the Demon. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time I was eating crow (even though I was right but in a different way).
I always try to get down to the truth even if it makes me wrong. I can't stand half assed non-researched answers.

lol. So I think my advise was best. Buy a laptop. One dude was suggesting a Moates ECU bench tester for jeebus sake.
That was fun watching that play out. But I'm glad we all learned something
I thought it was established already that Hondata can't do that, so I went straight to how a desktop can be used, or alternatives. I usually skip steps when going to the answer tho

Oh no, I was never in disagreement about your advice on the laptop. If anyone is serious about tuning they would be stupid NOT to have one. Some people just want to upload a map one time and it's good enough for them is all. Then again, in this day and age, who doesn't have a laptop in America? Haha... you can get them for like $300 at a supermarket.
My laptop was free. Dead hard drive. I'm too cheap to buy one, so I installed XP onto a thumbdrive. You aren't supposed to be able to do that, but I managed to somehow. Its slow. Battery life is 2 hours cause its old. But it does tuning!
