ITR Shell Value
So my ITR was stolen Monday and found early this morning. The impound lot won't let me see it up close until the cops get a chance to try and pull prints (on Monday since today was a holiday).
From what I could see 150 yards away, looks like front fenders, hood, bumpers, doors, and most likely the complete interior is gone (of course the engine bay is empty).
Based on this, what's the shell worth and is it worth buying it back??

i saw this on facebook. sorry to hear about it. if you're planning on buying it back and reselling, i personally wouldnt pay more then $1500 for it since its salvaged, the whole front end, interior, swap, and i'm assuming the 5 lug is gone too knowing mn thieves. wires and other stuff was probably cut as well since they dumped it pretty quick.
think about how much it'll cost especially since ITR parts continue to stay expensive:
- swap- $3k
- 5 lug with rims - $1500
- itr interior - $1k
- front end (jdm/usdm/paint) - 2k
- misc stuff - $1k
- salvage title - knock off $3-$4k off how much you will invest back into it also, you'll need to get it checked out by the state as well before getting it retitled.
if i were you though, i would buy it back and at least try to resell it to the community. you'll probably make some money off the deal and someone will get to save an itr. if this is the case, i'll be interested as im looking for another shell to put a K in it.

Hey pennies,
I don't want to restore it. Only considering this because I'm assuming insurance is gonna d!ck me over on a payout, and if there's a little margin in the shell, then I'll pursue the buy back.

Fight the insurance. I wouldn't settle for less then $16000. My py with 104k was totaled and insurance gave me 12k. And that was last year before the crazy high demand.

Best thing to do is ask the ins company how much they want if bought back and see if its worth it. Like I said, id pay 1500 for it. Also, like everyone said, do your homework and find some itrs that are selling or sold within a 500 mile radius and bring that to the table. You should be able to push them a bit with that. Gl

Sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well. I had no insurance when mine was stolen in '13 so at least you won't get screwed as bad as I did! I would expect you to be able to sell a bare bones shell with a salvage title for a couple thousand if the frame is straight. Some people might say that the math isn't there by the time you add up the parts needed to complete the car, but I've seen many sell in that ballpark. As a mental bonus you would also know that someday your car will be back on the road, which is kind of like throwing a middle finger up at those @ssholes that stole it. F*ck thieves!
