d16a6 valve issue
I'm doing a head gasket on an a6 si and I was stupid enough to think opposite rotation on the cam gear would be able to help me Crack the crank pulley bolt loose. It ended up jumping teeth. There are no signs of piston/valve contact, but now they don't all shut at TDC and when I try to manually rotate the cam gear it hits a point where it will spring forward and valves open while others shut. Just wondering what could have happened and my possible solutions. Prefeably some not so difficult diy solutions. Thank you
not sure what you mean - when the piston at any cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke, both valves should be closed - when the piston at any cylinder is at TDC on overlap, both valves will be slightly open - for instance, when #1 cylinder is at TDC on compression, #4 cylinder is at TDC on overlap - when #4 is on compression, #1 is on overlap - same for #2 and #3
if either or both of the 2 valves on a particular cylinder are open when the piston is at TDC on compression, you have bent valve(s)
