Hmm... this reminds me to put "learn how to adjust valves" on ye olde to do list.

(Beats paying the dealer whatever ridiculous amount of money they want for it to be done... after $100 for an oil change I'm scared to ask!)

You don't even have to have the cylinder at exactly TDC. Just make sure that all the valves are closed on the compression stroke, with the cam lobes pointing up and away from the rocker arms (when any one cylinder is at TDC, the exhaust cam lobes should point up and towards the front of the car, and the intake cam lobes should point up and towards the rear of the car). You have a window of several degrees on either side of TDC that will work fine for setting the valve clearances on any particular cylinder.

I say this so you will know that you don't have to be EXACT and rotate the engine ALL the way around if you just go a little bit past TDC for the cylinder you're working on. And whatever you do, NEVER turn the engine backwards!

how often are you guys adjusting your valves? I did mine and a good 10k back. Im getting ready to hit 50k on a 2001 with Jun valve springs ( she's my snow plow too ) but i noticed the ticking gets louder. I sprung CEL 45 and i cleaned the injectors accordingly but the CEL popped up again. I read a post and it said to check the fuel pressure so i guess thats next. I wonder if that valve ticking has anything to do with the valvespring's installed height cause i know thats rather important. Anyone else having the same kinda noises? After the valve adjustment it helped a lil bit but not too much. I guess im going to try and do a valve adjustment on my car as soon as it gets warmer out. We'll see how everything goes i guess.
