I have a 96 automatic civic sedan. Has a d16y8 head on a d17 head. Recently the flex plate/tourqe converter has been smacking my flex plate cover. Took the cover off. Much less noise but I can still hear it grazing the top of my trans housing causing a tick. Since the car was all Frankensteined out when I got it (used to be an lx) Here is my question. A) what could cause this) B) what tranny do I have? Do I have an lx tranny still or do I have a y8 ex tranny? All is says is p4r. I wanna order new flex plate and tourque converter stuff but I need to know which parts to order. Thanks guys.

Re: Auto transmission problem. What tranny do I have?
P4R is a 96-00 transmission casing. It would be riveted to the front of the transmission (as it's installed), running vertically near where the transmission housing mates to the engine, if memory serves correctly. It will also be covered in grime and **** - you'll probably need to clean the front of the transmission off to find it.

Re: Auto transmission problem. What tranny do I have?
No. My dumbest fucked up again. D16y8 block on d16y7 head. Sorry. Was at mexican and had a few too many. Basically are all 96-00 d series flex plates and torque converters the same? I may be running an lx trans or I may be running an ex trans. I will triple check for a trans label in the am and post pics. 97% it isn't there. Thanks for the help guys
