compression, air flow, fuel, and tuning.

 

with good tuning, anything is possible.

 

You forgot to mention.........A LOT OF $$$$$$.

 

If you had the $$$(a lot) you could get 800-1000 HP with turbo and nitrous.

Staying N/A, again it depends on the $$$. You could get up to 500 HP but we are talking, GE blocks, race fuel, ported everything......

 

you could get 500hp but it will run like crap on the street if it is streetable...

 

how the hell you gonna get 500 n/a hp out of a 1.8 liter??

 

HP doesnt only come out of mods.

Tuning is the key.

You need to locate a good tuner or learn to do it yourself (if you dont know how, learn but don't do it by yourself.
