Default 98 Civic-running hotter, Idling weird, shifting funny, CEL on, speedometer erratic

I have a Civic that has been acting up lately. Seems to be running hotter, doesnt over heat though. Idling weird and shifting funny why driving. Also the speedometer is erratic and check engine light is on and the other day the D4 was flashing for a bit. Stopped after I restarted the car. I KNow the main fan is working but not sure about the one that runs with the AC. Any tips would be appreciated.

d4 flashing indicates a transmission fault. why is the cel on? with the erratic speedo, funny shifting, and cel, you may have a faulty speed sensor. first thing first- check that code.

So I took it in and had the codes ran. Most were tranny related. I hit a hard bump in the road then my speedometer went nuts. Think maybe something got knocked loose. Also have p01298 code and some o2 sensor ones. Now I guess I need to inspect the connections related to the tranny or could the faulty p01298 cause the other codes? If so that's a pretty simple Fox. What I'm also wondering is if the air condenser fan only runs when the a.c. is on?

Read the Fuse 15 TSB.

That fuse was blown. The a.c. fan wasn't grounded. So I fixed that and it works. What causes the fuse to blow?

Only worry if the fuse blows again. Keep an eye on it.

Well the fuse was good for about a week and blew again. I had taken it through a car wash and wonder if some wiring might have gotten wet causing a short. Also changed out the thermostat and temp issue is under control, so that's a plus. From everything I've read sounds like I might have an exposed wire under the intake.

that is the basic jist of the tsb. the fun part is finding the frayed wire, patching and protecting it. it can be tight in the loom, i have had varied success with aerosol "electric tape"

I'm gonna be honest, I'm not really a very car savvy girl. I have enjoyed working on this little car though and am finding I like to trouble shoot. This little civic is teaching me a lot about cars and myself haha

that is how i got my start into fixing/building/destroying cars- bought a destroyed '95 hatch, in 2002. gradually taught myself a little bit of everything, and kept building off what i had learned. the civic is a great car to learn diagnostics and basic repairs with, they are simple compared to most other cars. keep learning, this place is a great resource if you get yourself stuck.
