How much does a DC2 Type R Ti shift knob weigh?
I recently acquired a supposed OEM 5 speed 2001 Type R shift ****. I have seen threads saying that the USDM shift **** is aluminium and that the JDM **** is titanium. This one to me feels quite solid and heavy and weighs ~250 grams. To me it seems too heavy to be aluminium, but it is hard to judge. I have been unable to get an answer so far as to the true weight of a verified OEM JDM Civic (or Integra?) Titanium shift ****. Does anyone have a JDM shift **** to compare, or can verify that the USDM **** is Aluminum and does in fact weigh ~250 grams. Thank you Honda Tech.

Edit - please disregard my previous answers as I was in a rush and my conversion was completely off
As consolation, here is a pic of my JDM Ti on a scale
0.25 kg or 8.5 oz

^ This guy fucked the converson up BIG TIME lol.
A 9-10 lb shift ****? STFU.
The OEM JDM Ti **** weighs in at 14.1 Oz = 400 g = .4 kg (NOT 4.5 kg) =
.88 lb
Which you could have easily found by searching.

I did in fact try to search it out but only found a bunch of people speculating and was hoping for someone who had one to verify. The **** I have weighs 250 grams and to me it felt quite heavy. The fact that the Ti one weighs almost twice as much sounds crazy to me. One thing that seems reasonable for me to assume so far is that I most likely have the USDM version of the shift **** which I've heard is aluminum.
I bought an USDM ITR shift **** when I had my GSR and it was pretty heavy. Not sure what the weight was but it definitely felt very heavy comparatively. Can't imagine it being heavier.
This one on eBay is supposedly JDM titanium and weighs about 250 grams so I would love to see one on scale that weighs 400 grams if it exists. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=121670796760&globalID=EB AY-US

I have in fact done just that. What I'm hoping is for someone that has a verified jdm type r **** to weigh theirs and compare to mine... Or to have someone who knows what their talking about to chime in which is bound to happen sooner or later.
This is what I think at this point but only my oppinion. There MIGHT be a USDM DC2 Type R knobb that is made of aluminium, or ALL of the type R knobbs are the same. At 250 grams I'm pretty sure mine is not aluminum. One thing I think is a myth however, is that there is a mythical "titanium" JDM Civic Type R knobb that weighs 400 grams. I don't think it is possible and if anyone can confirm that they have one and it's 400 grams than so be it but I think there is a lot of bad information floating around, rumors and speculation. If my Type R knobb was aluminium I'm quite certain that it would weigh significantly less than 250 grams being that aluminum is one the lighter metals. Thanks again to those who chimed in to put forth some solid data.

As well, you can always test the material itself. Al is vastly softer than Ti.

I have verified and re verified, there is no 400 gram "titanium" OEM Type R shift ****. The Ti JDM shift **** does in fact weigh in at ~250 grams. After testing 3 different ones I have decided that there is some false information floating around. The Aluminum **** weighs around 150 grams.
