98 Honda Civic misfire
Hi, this is my first post, as I just found this website trying to find some answers. Sorry if there are other posts out here about the same issue, but I'm looking for some fresh ideas. So my Civic recently had a check engine light go on while on a road trip, but before I could run the code, the light went off. Then a few days ago, while driving it, the check engine light went on and the car started to bog down when accelerating and idle at high or low rpm. After checking it out, all 4 cylinders were throwing misfire codes as well as the random misfire code and P1399 ICM code. I have replaced all the plugs, wires and coil pack, as well as the fuel filter and ECU fuse. The car is still displaying the same symptoms, but only after the vehicle has warmed up and running at a normal temp. What is my nest step?
Do you have a friend with a distributor you could borrow, for diagnostic purposes? That'll narrow down if it's a problem in the distributor, or somewhere else. Given that you've already replaced most of the distributor, though, your ICM would be the next thing to test.
Asks for help, immediately questions the help he's given...continuing to be difficult with the people trying to help you won't get you very far.Maybe because you've replaced the other major components in the ignition system already, so the ICM is the next logical step? Maybe because the ICM is a common point of failure?
I didn't ask if the CEL was on for my own health. Reset your ECU, pull the codes again, and tell us what codes are still there.

The ICM - ignition control module - is part of the distributor. It's a common point of failure within the distributor. When it goes on the fritz, your exact symptoms are possible.
