97 Civic EX Auto - Only starts in Nuetral and Not in Park???

97 Civic EX Auto - Only starts in Nuetral and Not in Park???
So lately our civic will only start while the automatic transmission is set into the neutral position. It will only start while in park when its cold or has not been started. What causes this on the automatics?
