For those who have done this
ok...this is for those who have done and engine swap...where'd the heck did you learn to do all this?? I look into my engine bay of my 88` CRX HF, and all i see is confusion. I have no clue where to start. Does anyone know if there's a book or something i could get to help my sorry *** out?? thanks.........
have a friend or hire someone to help you out. Have a chiltons or haynes manuel.
You will not be able to do it all buy your self the first time. Watch help out were you can and it will become familiar each time. It;s a learning proccess.

Get helms manual from helm inc(The Factory Service Manual). and a metric tool kit, 8 10 20 14 17 and 19 mm sockets are the most commonly needed. also get some 12 point sockets in the 10 12 and 14 mm sizes although I usually you just need the 10 mm. Thats A start...

i went from payin the local shop to install an act clutch in my stock trans.. to putting in my b16, installing many suspension setups. eventually got a job through school bustin tires. i have since moved up in the world.
read and keep reading.. read all archived post in this board. also find sites outside of honda-tech that talk about the swap
MOST IMPORTANT: if you are confused and have doubt that you can do it.. then maybe you should have it done by a professional.. professionals are not for ripping people off.. they are for people that need them.
good luck

i did my 1st swap in 98 at HASport, it was the 1st b16 swap they tried with the new mount kit and the only b16 swap into a EF at that time, i helped out alot and wanted to learn as much as possible, then my 2ns swap i did alot but got stuck on wiring, but i learned alot. Now im on my 5th swap and can do it in my sleep.
best thing is to get someone who has done it before to help you, not do it but coach you along.

Yeah, you pretty much have to learn little by little. When I got my first CRX, I had no idea what this 'DPFI' was, or these 16 valves did! I first bought a crappy Haynes manual, changed my own oil, spark plugs, PCV valve, etc. After looking up swap sites, asking questions, and figuring things out on my own, I then did my motor swap!
It REALLY helps if you have someone near you that has done this kind of work before, I pretty much had to learn it on my own by asking questions and doing research. This took me a little over 1 year to learn what I now know. It's all very simple once you know what's going on. If you know somebody who knows Honda's just bring him/her over to your house, pop open the hood and start asking questions!
Good Luck!

Yea, this site and a few other performance CRX ones are really good.
Lots of info.
Just don't ask stupid questions about bodykits and ish and you'll be fine.
I did mine after taking Auto 1 and did it in Auto 2. 3 hrs a day of auto. The only thing I miss about high school is that class. Doing clutches, motors, rod and main bearings, putting a Chevy Caprice engine and rearend into a 50 something trolly/van thing. Yea, Welding is cool.
Ahhh, good memories.

me and a friend (who had done many swaps before) did a swap on his car with a few other people. then we pulled the motor out of my car a few months later. after pulling the motor like 3-4 more times since then, i know what to do now. i'll be pulling my motor again and another motor this winter.
