Fuel Gauge and Filling tank issue-99 EX
I have searched many forums and topics trying to figure out my situation, and have came close to finding answers, but nothing exact. First off, I have a 1999 Civic EX sedan.
I filled up tank up before a long weekend drive, drove over 200 miles, and noticed my gauge was still at full. Sometimes it will dip down to around 3/4, then go back up to Full. Didn't think much of it, figured my gauge was just broke. So I stopped to fill up the tank, mind you over 200 miles on this tank of gas, and the pump stopped at 3.5 gallons, which confused me, so I kept manually filling it, eventually until it started coming up the neck at barely 4 gallons of gas. Mathematically equaling out to over 50 miles a gallon, I know something is messed up here (best ive ever got was 38 MPG)
I have NO CEL, and the car runs like a top, feels like there is absolutely no issues, but there is something going on. I thought maybe something with the EVAP system, yet every post ive seen people always have the CEL for that, Ive thought the fuel sending unit, but once again it seems as every post I find there is a CEL on for that person. None here.
Looking for any answers anyone may have, I would like to fix it myself, but when it comes to fuel systems I don't have much experience unless I know what the issue is. I hate to just start replacing items that aren't broke.
Sorry this is my first post. I have been reading on this forum for a long time, just don't post on forums much. Might as well introduce myself, My name is Chad, I own my 1999 EX and a 2003 S2000.
Thanks ahead for any answers you may have.

Well considering at over 200 miles the car only took 3.5 gallons of gas. That mathematically equals out to 57 MPG. Doesn't sound to normal to me. I wish.
