Icon2 1994 Honda Accord problem

I have a 1994 Honda Accord that I am having a problem with. It doesn't crank at times. I have replaced the starter and battery. Sometimes it will start without any issues and sometimes, the starter just clicks as if it is not getting enough power. This is the 3rd starter already. I replaced the new one in case it may have gone bad. I even upgraded to a better quality starter. I am still having the same problem. I thought the clutch safety switch may have been the problem but if it was the problem, I'm thinking the starter wouldn't get any power at all. The starter always gets power but sometimes just doesn't turn over. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. It is just frustrating when the car just doesn't start. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like the problem when I am low on gas. How is the fuel pump? How is the fuel filter? How is the fuel pressure?

(Honestly just throwing stuff out there for you to check, not a certified mechanic, or a very recreational one at that).

Check your grounds and your battery cables very carefully for tightness and cleanliness. You are correct on the clutch switch. If it was problematic the starter would not even attempt to engage. Check that positive cable really well. Sometimes you can get corrosion down in the cable under the insulation. One trick would be to try several times to start the car when it is acting up. Then feel along the positive cable for a hot spot. Is there any rhyme or reason at all to the malfunction? Is it more common when the car is hot or cold? When it has sat overnight or for 2 days? If you have a voltmeter check battery voltage when it malfunctions. You may have a draw on the battery causing a problem.

Good luck!!

How have you verified the starter isn't getting power ? Have you checked the small wire that connects to the starter for voltage when turning the ignition to start ? If it has voltage it's not likely you can have three starters that are all bad.

I actually have this problem now. My mechanic told me it could be the ignition switch. I suspected that my battery just isn't supplying enough cranking amps.

Things to be regraded at glance,
- Tightness of the Battery connectors,
- Suffuicient Battery's Amoerrage
- Ground connections for tightness & free corusion throughoutly
after making sure on all above, then you need focussing on technical issues remedy approach i.e. checking for bad status of the;
- Ignition (Starter) Switch conductors,
- Starter actuator,
Goodluck.
