Omni power rpm tach issues
Anyone happen to have any issues with their omni power tach working properly after instal? I am local to king Motorsports. I picked up an 8500rpm tach a couple of days ago. Put it in my cluster, hook it up. Makes a buzzing noise and stays at 0 rpm with a small amount of flutter. Took tach back and exchanged for another, same thing. I have had other oem tachs in my car and they worked perfectly fine as far as the tach goes. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue? I also went ahead and spliced into blue wire off of dizzy for tachometer reading and wired a ground/power to the tach alone. Same result. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue before
I know that if you overtighten the three screws on the back of the tach it will cause some wonky numbers. When i installed mine, it jumped pretty crazy. Backed all the screws out and barely put anything on them, just enough to make contact, and that solved my issue. I have fluctuations now between 3 and 4k rpm, but i know for a fact that its the the cylinder position sensor in the distributor.
Sorry I haven't checked lately. I actually gave the tach and my cluster to my friend. He put it in his car. Worked great, was accurate like it should. Then all of a sudden just stopped working and is stuck at 0 no fluttering at all.
