94 Accord EX front sway bar
Anyone know if a Gen 5 Prelude front sway bar will fit a Gen 5 Accord? I like the way the sway bar ends mount and wondered if they would interchange. I saw one at the pick-and-pull today and it started me wondering.
no it would not. part numbers are different, and I believe were talking about the radius rods that go from the arm straight to the front cross member right? and not the stabilizer arm that goes from arm to arm in which that case I'm going to say no on that one aswell.
No, I am talking about the sway bar that mounts in the area of the rack and pinion and attaches to each LCL. The part numbers would be different because the bars are different. That is the reason I want to make the change. Since the suspensions are very similar there is a chance it might work. Perhaps someone had tried it already. The alternative is to pull an Accord bar and have a welding shop heat the ends and rotate them 90 degrees.
Yeah, I guess that pulling the bar is really the only way to tell. I was just hoping to avoid that if it wouldn't work. And the ends are the only think I want to be different. Back in the day I had a sway bar I converted to use Heim ends by heating and twisting the ends 90 degrees. Worked great, so I thought I would give it a try on my Accord. With the Prelude bar I could avoid the heating and twisting and probably come out cheaper.
Just an update. Bad idea! I went to the pick-and-pull and checked out a 2000 Prelude and a 94 Accord EX. The Prelude bar is 2mm smaller than the EX bar. Not the direction I want to go, so that one is history.

Maybe not...dont write it off yet. I think the end link mounting for the prelude bar is a better/tighter design. It will probably have less slack than the accord bar. Thus a smaller bar would give the same result.
Yeah, but I can heat and rotate the Accord end, weld in a plug, and use all metal Heim ends. I have done that before and it worked great.
I've posted this in another thread, but...
Why would you want to ADD roll bar stiffness to the front of the car, which will make it PUSH more, when the rear of the car is so loose and needs it more?

I am not really interested in adding a lot of stiffness, just replacing the ends with something better. I would like to keep the stiffness the same. On the other hand, the rear has an ST bar and heavier springs, so I really don't want to give up any stiffness either. Mainly, just replace the end links with something better.
Do what I did: dump the front sway bar and endlinks in the trash. Get a good shock tower bar and you're set. I love how much better the car sets into a turn, and with the recent addition of the Neuspeed shock tower bar, it turns in very crisply. Can't wait to install the higher rate coilover springs and see how it drives.
