honda mtf is a good option or torco mtf ( either conventional of fully syn )

the mobil might be way to thick.

Do not use Honda MTF.

What country do you live in?

many people say the new formula is too thin. while true. im sure it still provides more than sufficient additives to protect the gears.

Is it the best option, probably not. Torco that is focused more on performance might be a better option.

You are in a very small crowd with that opinion. Do you rebuild them on a regular basis?

Not on a regular basis no, but I've done enough. I've used a bunch of differnt fluids and honda seems to provide the best shifts and quietest sounding trannies.

Too thin, lacks good EP additives. 10w-30 is a better option.

I'm guessing it will be easier for the OP to get hold of Motul than Torco.

Try it, you'll never go back to Honda MTF.

I have both MTF and RTF in stock ready to ship.

I'd go with Redline over 10W30 but you can use either.

Please remember that Honda calls for 10W-30 oil to be used as a temp replacement for Honda MTF. Believe me, Honda MTF is good stuff. Do NOT use a 75W-90. I mean just look at the numbers for a moment. The viscosity is way off. I for one tried to use that GM Synchromesh stuff years ago to try and "cure" grinds. It does for a little because the viscosity is wrong, and in a few months, you'll need new internal bearings. Everyone who says "I tried X fluid and it was awesome", go ask them if they can report back in 2 years and see if the incorrect fluid thickness made anything worse.

Default B16b jdm civic type r transmission oil

Just so you know, gear oil weights are rated dofferent than motor oil weights. Viscocity wise a 75w-90 gear oil has the viscocity of 10w-40 motor oil

The reason for the numbers discrepancy is because SAE wanted to make sure people wouldnt accudentally grab a 10w-40 gear oil and mistake it for engine oil.
