Hey Honda-tech! My name is Adam, I'm from Columbia SC. I'm not entirely new to Hondas I've been stalking forums for a few years now. I HAD a silver 1998 Honda Civic CX about 2 and a half years ago before I traded it in for a 2013 Honda Civic SI. The Ek I had was in too poor of a condition for me to financially justify putting work into at the time. Now I actually work in sales at Honda of Columbia (2 years now), and I have finally got what I like to call a redemption vehicle.
Ever since I (foolishly) got rid of my hatch there was an older man who would come in with an extremely clean car just like I had. It was literally the same car, a 1998 Silver CX hatch. Bone-stock, he was the second owner, and the car still had the original dealership tag on the front. The only thing wrong with it was the ac compressor was shot, and the oem radiator cracked.
I bothered this guy for 2 years about letting me buy it from him every time he came in for his regular oil changes. Finally it paid off and I got it for a price I couldn't pass up. I'll post some pics of the car when I first bought it from him.
Currently the car looks the exact same. The only things I've done is replaced the oem honda radiator with a skunk2 alpha series radiator, and I'm in the process of doing a 99-00 climate control conversion. Other than that it looks the exact same. I'm trying to do all the planning on what I'd like to get out of the car. I'd love to daily drive it after my civic si lease is up in a year, an have no car payment!$$$ I'll probably stay d-series (reliability and cost of ownership) and just cleaning it up and doing an extensive wire tuck. The interior I have a few special things planned for it which I've pretty much got all figured out.
My first request however, is I'm torn between an SiR conversion or just making it super clean with the USDM bumpers. I just don't feel the need to spend 1500+ for the conversion when I have a clean body that could just use a little paint. So can anyone post me some of the cleanest USDM bumper 96-98 civic hatches they've seen? Thanks again, I look forward to the feedback!
Car when I purchased it!
The type of clean I'm going for... this hatch is so sexy..
